Ain't It Cool News has just reveled that they know who will be replacing Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's upcoming film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. According to their sources, Gilliam has asked Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step in and fill the role left unfinished by Ledger at the time of his passing. Since the film is a fantasy in which Ledger’s character could easily change into someone else, all three replacement actors may pay tribute to Heath by using the opportunity to pay final respects to the actor. We think it’s brilliant that the script loaned itself to this sort of idea, audiences will see Heath Ledger’s final work in Terry Gilliam’s film, and we will all see three very interesting actors step up to offer interpretations of him as a way of paying one final tribute to this actor whose career was cut so sadly short. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is scheduled for a 2009 release date.
