The Hollywood Bureau ARCHIVES

Here is a sneak peek at some of our past posts.........

Friday, February 22, 2008

It all started when Vanity Fair canceled their annual Oscar bash a month ago to stand in solidarity with the striking writers. This turned Hollywood insiders upside down, sending shockwaves throughout the A-list circles. Now what? Where were they going to wear the Harry Winston jewels they had on loan for the evening? Don’t worry Madonna and Prince are hosting competing parties that are set to be huge extravaganzas.
VARIETY Reported: One contender to fill this black-tie social vacuum is the party Madonna, her manager Guy Oseary and Demi Moore have put together at the last minute. Whether this affair becomes an annual event hasn’t been decided. The part y, to be held in a home in the Westside hills, will begin around 9 p.m. A few hundred people are invited, although this number will probably expand. One person who’s seen the guest list said, “Everybody’s on it. It gives the A-list Vanity Fair crowd someplace to go to. It will probably be pared down to where it’s 85% talent, not a lot of suits.” But even if this party skims off some of the celebrity cream, the Governors Ball will still be the major draw. “It’s the biggest game in town,” said one exec. “This is going to put the glamour back into the ball.”

She had a girl weighing in at 5 lbs. 7 oz. at 12:12 am, and a boy at 12:23 am who weighed 6 lbs. There is no word yet on what their names are of if they’ve already been named. Ain't It Cool News has just reveled that they know who will be replacing Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's upcoming film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. According to their sources, Gilliam has asked Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step in and fill the role left unfinished by Ledger at the time of his passing. Since the film is a fantasy in which Ledger’s character could easily change into someone else, all three replacement actors may pay tribute to Heath by using the opportunity to pay final respects to the actor. We think it’s brilliant that the script loaned itself to this sort of idea, audiences will see Heath Ledger’s final work in Terry Gilliam’s film, and we will all see three very interesting actors step up to offer interpretations of him as a way of paying one final tribute to this actor whose career was cut so sadly short. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is scheduled for a 2009 release date.

McCartney/Mills Divorce Settlement

It appears the nasty divorce settlement proceedings between Heather Mills and Paul McCartney are finally over. After two years of petty squabbling, the two have finally reached a settlement, according to several reputable news outlets. Heather will get $40 million in a lump sum up front, and an additional $5 million a year until the couple’s daughter Beatrice turns 18 in 14 years. As part of the deal, Mills agreed to never speak publicly or write in detail about the breakdown of the marriage, according to the Daily Mail. The accord came after Mills and McCartney had gone nose to nose in court for five days last week.

Mills will have main custody of Beatrice, but McCartney, whose fortune is estimated at $1.2 billion, will have equal visitation rights. Beatrice’s 65-year-old dad also agreed to set up a $2 million trust fund that she can access when she turns 18, according to the Daily Mail. Mills plans to live with Beatrice in Britain and either Poland or the Czech Republic, where she hopes to buy a home.

A source told the Daily Mail a verbal agreement was reached just before lunch. “They have a settlement,” a source said. “They have agreed on all points. Nothing much has changed this week. There was a deal at the beginning, but it was a complex one. There have been a few tweaks to the agreements, but those have been mostly changes Heather wanted made.” A hearing, perhaps the final one, is scheduled for Monday.
