Anna Nicole Finally Speaks

After shelling out a large sum of cash Entertainment Tonight has scored Anna Nicole Smith's first sit-down interview since the tragic death of her 20-year-old son, Daniel, last month. According to the show, Anna has virtually become a prisoner in her own home. ET reporter and mega hunk Mark Steines writes, "...the fear of constant paparazzi attention keeps Anna and her support team locked up, blinds drawn and constantly aware that prying eyes are trying to snap photos." Anna reportedly remains calm throughout the interview but "crumbles like a house of cards, tears pouring out of her eyes, her body shaking from the sobbing" when asked about her son. The interview will be broadcast on November 2nd.

Continuum By John Mayer

Review by MuzikMan

John Mayer has a deep abiding respect for the blues, and never has it been more apparent than on his superb album Continuum. When Mayer made the switch to the blues, some folks seemed caught off guard and confused, nevertheless his true fans knew better. Personally, I have heard a lot about this artist but never sat down and listened to any of his work. Now I am sorry I missed so much. I was glad to hear he shook all the comparisons to Dave Matthews and developed his own identity and unique sound.Continuum is a true classic of our time, a sparkling and memorable production that deserves all the gushing and media attention it has been receiving and will continue to get many years from now. John Mayer arrived a few years ago but this time out he has made a statement that he is here to stay and expect more of the same in the future. As we are waiting for the world to change, we can listen to good music and do our part to change it.

Ryan and Reese Seperate

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have decided to call it quits after seven years of marriage and two children. We were absolutely shocked to read the statement released this morning by the couple’s representative:

"We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time."

Reese has already enlisted divorce lawyer to the stars, lawyer Robert Kaufman, who represented Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Marie Presley and Roseanne. Insiders revealed to the Hollywood Bureau that the couple has been facing ongoing problems for awhile now. It seemed like the media focus on Reese’s career had an effect on the relationship. Although the couple were devoted to one another and tried to work it out, it seemed like the shift in their career status had an effect on their marriage.

Whitney Houston made a glorious return to the social scene this past weekend. Whitney was escorted to the annual Carousel of Hope ball by music producer Clive Davis, who said: "She's been through emotional trauma, and everybody's rooting for her. We're going to make a killer album." The event, hosted by Jay Leno, raised more than $70 million for childhood diabetes. Houston sat at the main table hosted by Halle Berry, who is a diabetic. Performers included Usher, Barry Manilow, Babyface, and "American Idol" finalists Katharine McPhee and Jennifer Hudson. McPhee originally was set to sing her American Idol favorite, "Over the Rainbow," but she reportedly decided to sing Houston's "I Have Nothing" as a tribute to the singer. Houston led a standing ovation after the performance. Other guests included Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Brooke Shields, Hilary Duff and Teri Hatcher.

Chase Palmer is making his directorial debut on his own script, an imagined story of the mystery surrounding Alfred Hitchcock's lost and unfinished first film, Number Thirteen. Dan Fogler will play the young director, who gets caught up in a Hitchcockian dilemma when he ends up in a love triangle with two crew members while making the film. When the lead actor turns up dead, the editor suspects the director and tries to uncover the truth. Shooting for Number Thirteen begins in January.

Madonna appeared on Oprah today to address the media frenzy surrounding her adoption of a 13 month old boy from Malawi Africa. We were proud of Madonna in her decision to adopt an unfortunate orphan from Africa. SO LEAVE HER ALONE!!!!! We will never understand why certain members of the worldwide press have made the choice to "spin" this story into such a negative situation. Shame on you!! In addressing the critics of Madonna's adoption she had this to say, "I beg all of those people to go to Africa and see what I saw and walk through those villages. To see 8-year-olds in charge of households. To see mothers dying, with Kaposi sarcoma lesions all over their bodies. To see open sewages everywhere. To see what I saw. It is a state of emergency. As far as I'm concerned, the adoption laws have to be changed to suit that state of emergency. I think if everybody went there, they'd want to bring one of those children home with them and give them a better life."
"We talk about the border as a place only, instead of an idea. I believe that the real borders are the ones that exist within us." - Alejandro González Iñárritu

In this mesmerizing, emotional film that was shot in three continents and four languages - and traverses both the deeply personal and the explosively political -- acclaimed director Alejandro González Iñárritu (21 GRAMS, AMORES PERROS) explores with shattering realism the nature of the barriers that seem to separate humankind. In doing so, he evokes the ancient concept of BABEL and questions its modern day implications: the mistaken identities, misunderstandings and missed chances for communication that, though often unseen, drive our contemporary lives.

In BABEL, a tragic incident involving an American couple in Morocco sparks a chain of events for four families in different countries throughout the world. Tied by circumstance but separated by continent, culture and language, each character discovers that it is family that ultimately provides solace.

In the remote sands of the Moroccan desert, a rifle shot rings out - detonating a chain of events that will link an American tourist couple's frantic struggle to survive, two Moroccan boys involved in an accidental crime, a nanny illegally crossing into Mexico with two American children and a deaf Japanese teen rebel whose father is sought by the police in Tokyo.

The Prestige debuted at No. 1 this weekend with $14.8 million, outperforming Clint Eastwood's World War II saga, which opened at No. 3 with $10.2 million. Sliding into second place was Martin Scorsese's The Departed, which took in $13.7 million and raised its three-week total to $77.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The previous weekend's No. 1 movie, Sony's horror sequel The Grudge 2, tumbled to fifth-place with $7.7 million, lifting its 10-day total to $31.4 million. Box-office analysts had viewed the weekend as a three-way race among well-reviewed films: Disney's The Prestige, starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians in a blood feud; Paramount's Flags of Our Fathers, dramatizing the Iwo Jima invasion; and the Warner Bros. mob tale The Departed.

The Prestige debuted in 2,281 theaters, 400 more than Flags. The Departed is playing wider, in 3,005 cinemas. With 70 percent of its viewers under 35, The Prestige drew a younger crowd that tends to turn out in bigger numbers over opening weekend. Eighty percent of the audience for Flags was older than 30. Sony's Marie Antoinette, with Kirsten Dunst in director Sofia Coppola's chronicle of the 18th century queen beheaded during the French Revolution, premiered at No. 8 with $5.3 million. Running With Scissors, featuring Joseph Cross, Annette Bening and Alec Baldwin in an adaptation of Augusten Burroughs' best-seller, opened strongly with $225,000 in eight theaters.

Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Oscar nominated director Sofia Coppola, 21st century movie about an 18th Century legend -- MARIE ANTOINETTE. Oscar winner Sofia Coppola brings to the screen a fresh interpretation of the life of France's legendary teenage queen MARIE ANTOINETTE. Betrothed to King Louis XVI, the naïve Marie Antoinette at the age of 14, she is thrown into the opulent French court which is steeped in conspiracy and scandal. Alone, without guidance, and adrift in a dangerous world, the young Marie Antoinette rebels against the isolated atmosphere at Versailles and, in the process, becomes France's most misunderstood monarch. Often maligned, passionately debated and ultimately a misunderstood young woman, Marie Antoinette, through Coppola's vision, emerges neither as staid historical villain nor divine idol -- but as a confused and lonely teenage outsider thrust against her will into a decadent and scandal-plagued world on the eve of disaster. Kirsten Dunst stars as the youthful princess whose fateful life became the stuff of myth and legend. Whether she is being idealized for her impeccable style or vilified for being unforgivably out of touch with her subjects, reaction to Marie Antoinette is always extreme. Yet, slowly, as she matures, she begins to find her way as a wife, mother and Queen -- only to be tragically swept up in a bloody revolution that alters France forever.

The Queen

The Queen is an intimate behind the scenes glimpse at the interaction between HM Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Tony Blair during their struggle, following the death of Diana, to reach a compromise between what was a private tragedy for the Royal family and the public's demand for an overt display of mourning.

GUCCI Turns 85

Photos: Giuseppe Cacace

During Milan fashion week Gucci CEO Mark Lee and creative director Frida Giannini hosted a bash to celebrate the Italian luxury goods house’s 85th anniversary. The event featured a live 40-minute performance by John Legend. A similar appreciation for fine details was evident in Gucci’s approach to this memorable event. Walls of topiary, along with a nearly transparent frame, flanked the entrance to the palazzo where the party was held. As guests made their way past a life-size “Gucci by Gucci" logo, they were greeted by large projection screens that rotated images of the company’s most iconic and legendary moments. Gucci also introduced a touch computer-screen that showcased the pages of its new Gucci by Gucci anniversary coffee table book. While sleek, mirrored bars skillfully kept all drink paraphernalia out of sight, wait staff outfitted in turtleneck sweaters and black slacks served champagne to guests, which included François-Henri Pinault Jr., Robert Polet and his wife, Camilla Belle, Hal Rubenstein, Anne Christensen and Stefano Tonchi, Suzy Menkes, Virginie Mouzat, Neiman Marcus’ Karen Katz, Isabel Dupré, Hidetoshi Nakata, and two powerhouse CEOs who don’t usually make a habit of staying at parties until the midnight hour: Bergdorf Goodman’s Jim Gold and Neiman Marcus’ Burt Tansky.

London's News of the World says the uber supermodel Kate Moss is telling friends that she intends to stick with rehabbing, recidivism-inclined rocker Pete Doherty until the cold clammy hand of death parts them. "Yes, we're getting married," the tabloid quotes her as saying. "I love him so much. He's the sexiest man on the planet."

The Hollywood Bureau was fascinated by a recent post report by MSN.com

A scathing report on accusations made by CNN causes Ms. Nicole Ritchie to respond.

SOURCE: MSN.com

CNN has apparently taken that first tentative step on the road to recovery and admitted Nicole Richie has a problem. There's just a slight hitch, however: She says it's all a bunch of hooey. The size 0 starlet, who has repeatedly denied that her bones-a-rattling body is the result of an eating disorder, is miffed over claims that she's entered rehab. "Contrary to CNN's false accusations, I did not check myself into an eating disorder rehab," she fumes on her MySpace page. "I don't know why or how this rumor started, but I am home, in L.A., and very happy."

Richie, who recently told Tyra Banks that she's working with a nutritionist in an effort to pack on a few pounds, also insisted for the umpteenth time, "I do not have an eating disorder, and I don't know how many times I have to say it. I've repeated myself so many times, I feel like a broken record."

And while it's good bet she'll have to keep repeating herself until her sternum no longer looks like it's trying to make a break for it, at least she has a sturdy shoulder to lean on, courtesy of strapping beau Brody Jenner. On Tuesday, the childhood pals-turned-amours were snapped heading to lunch in Malibu, with Nicole sporting a hoodie emblazoned with the word "love."

Richie, who has called the speculation over her weight "horrible, especially when you're trying to do something about it," does seem to be staying positive, and she concludes her rant by saying, "Whoever started this rumor is evil and mean, but it's not true. I am happy and healthy and living my life."
